Mandatory Training

All University employees are required to complete various compliance and required training based on their role with the University.   

You can register and/or complete the following training courses online by logging into the UC Learning Center with your single sign-on (SSO) account.  Click on the “Assigned Training” icon for a list of required training.  You can also use the search feature to find them.  

Injury and Illness Prevention Program

The Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) is a training session developed by Environment, Health & Safety to help employees understand and avoid workplace risks. 

  • Required for: All employees at UC San Diego
  • Frequency:  Once
  • LLP Instructors have a special session of the IIPP presented to them during the Fall Workshop.
  • Duration: 1.5 hour classroom session

UC Ethical Values and Conduct

UC Ethical Values and Conduct is designed to raise continued awareness of the University of California Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, and to convey University employment obligations with respect to ethical and compliant behavior. 

  • Required for: All employees at UC San Diego
  • Frequency:  Annual
  • Duration:  30 minutes

Cyber Security Awareness Training

Cyber Security Awareness Training and the Cyber Security Awareness Training Refresher are comprehensive security awareness trainings to address threats to the security of UC information systems and data.

Cyber Security Awareness Training

  • Required for: All employees at UC San Diego
  • Frequency: Completed at time of initial hire
  • Duration: 55 minutes

Cyber Security Awareness Training Refresher

  • Required for: All employees at UC San Diego
  • Frequency:  Annual
  • Duration:  30 minutes

Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

Provides information on preventing and responding to sexual violence and sexual harassment, and what each of us can to do to make our UC culture safer for all.

FERPA - Confidentiality of Student Records and Privacy Rights

Legally and ethically obligated to protect the confidentiality of student records, the University requires completion of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) training to be granted access to student records.

  • Required for: Faculty/Lecturers/Associate-Ins/Teaching Assistants/Non-student Tutors/Staff that access student data
  • Frequency:  Every 3 years
  • Duration:  30 minutes

Online Training for new Instructional Assistants (TAs, Readers, Tutors & Undergraduate Apprentices)

The Teaching + Learning Commons has completed the redesign of the online course for first time Instructional Assistants (IAs).  The course, titled "Preparing for Success: Online Course for Instructional Assistants", is a Graduate Division requirement for all first time IA’s including Teaching Assistants, Readers, Tutors and Undergraduate Apprentices.  The course is designed to provide a baseline level of preparation to supplement Departmental training and help IA’s succeed in their new role.

The course is composed of four modules:

  • Professionalism and Leadership as an Instructional Assistant
  • Promoting Learning through Diversity: The Inclusive Classroom
  • Teaching Students with Disabilities
  • Fostering Academic Integrity

Each module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

  • Required for: All first time Teaching Assistants, Readers, Tutors, and Undergraduate Apprentices
  • Frequency: Completed at time of initial hire
  • Duration: 120 minutes

Ergonomic Training

Computer Ergonomics Tier 1 Evaluation and Training provides information on ergonomic principles that allow you to evaluate your workstation and recommendations for workstation adjustments.

  • Required for:   CUE represented staff.  Recommended for all employees who work on the computer for 4 or more hours a day. 
  • Frequency:  Once
  • Duration:  45 minutes
