Campus Employee/Affiliate ID Card

A campus ID card not only serves to identify you, but can be used to obtain discounts and access to events and services.  To  obtain yours, please contact the Business Office so they can confirm your employee ID and provide you a account number to charge the card cost.  Once you have that information, you can proceed with completing the campus ID Card Request Form.

Mail is picked up and sorted every afternoon.  Place any outgoing mail (campus or external) in the outgoing mail bin in the 4th floor copy room.

Parking

There are currently two parking permit options:

(1) Traditional parking permit

  • In 2021, campus transitioned to virtual parking permits
  • Pay per month / 10 days
  • Use if
    • On-campus > 16 days/month (discounted, so it makes sense!)
    • Or if you don't want to remember to use the app :)
  • **Permit price is a pre-tax deduction

(2) Flexible Parking via the ParkMobile App

  • Pay per day ($5-$6/day)
  • 30 minutes free parking for drop off (use app!)
  • Register with @ucsd.edu e-mail address (do NOT use an alias, it identifies your permit options by your AD account)
  • Parking Codes
    • Faculty, Lecturers, ACs, Non-student Tutors (A permit): 47200
    • Graduate Students, TAs (including LLP) & Staff (B permit): 47300
  • Use if on-campus <15 days/month

Instructions to purchase 10 day pre-tax permits to use with the ParkMobile App:

To purchase your 10-day virtual permit:

  1. From the My Accounts tab on the Transportation Services website, select Parking Account.
  2. Click the "Get Permits" button and skip past the address confirmation − your permit will be delivered electronically at the end of your transaction.
  3. Scroll down to the 10-Day Permits section and select your permit.
  4. Select any vehicle on your account. Your permit will be valid with all vehicles tied to your ParkMobile account.
  5. Select your payment method and complete your transaction. Your parking zone and promotion code will appear on the receipt that display's at the end of your transaction. A link to your receipt will also be sent via email. **CLICK AND VIEW THE RECEIPT PDF FOR THE PROMOTION CODE**

To add your promotion code to ParkMobile:

  1. In the settings menu of the ParkMobile app, select Promotion Codes.
  2. Click the + (plus sign) to add a promotion code.
  3. Enter your promotion code at the prompt.
  4. Your promotion code will automatically zero out the parking fee on your next ten transactions for the indicated zone (permit type). The number of redemptions counts up from 0 to 10 in the app. Once you reach ten, it's time for a new code. You can load new codes ahead of time so you never run out of prepaid, pretax parking.

Employees who join the Triton Commuter Club may be eligible for additional discounts including 50% off.  The club is designed to encourage employees to engage in commuting options other than driving alone.  For more information about the program and how to join for free, please visit the Triton Commuter Club

Reimbursements

Reimbursement for eligible business related expenses are processed through Concur.  Employees, including student employees, must first designate Jeffrey Lau as an expense delegate on their Concur profile  Instructions can be found in this KBA.

The Intercampus Exchange program provides airfare or mileage reimbursement for faculty and registered graduate students to conduct research and research specific collaborations at other UC campuses. Attendance at conferences, scholarly society meetings, business meetings, invited talks, or presentations of seminars do not qualify. Airfare or mileage in lieu of airfare is reimburseable up to $250 and no other travel expenses such as lodging or meals can be reimbursed under this program. If interested, please complete a request.  

Non-employees seeking reimbursement for travel or human subject payments should complete a profile in Payment Works.  Please contact Jeffrey Lau for assistance.

  • Conference Room (AP&M 4218) (Capacity ~10)
  • Conference Room (AP&M 3218) (Capacity ~10)
  • ASL Classroom (AP&M 3321) (Capactity 28, smart tv, available summer only)
  • Media Classroom (AP&M 3402): Contact Rula Kassicieh (AP&M 3432)
    • The Media Classroom contains 29 PC workstations, a whiteboard, and a ceiling-mounted projector.

Trash / Recycle / Shredding

Schedule

  • Trash: Emptied on Fridays
  • Recycle: Emptied on Tuesdays

Helpful information

  • Trash: There are large trash bins located at the basement-level loading dock between AP&M and McGill Hall.
  • Recycling: There is a large recycling bin located in the hallway on the 4th floor near room 4101.

Shredding

  • Small shredder:
    • 4th floor: Located in the mailroom on the 4th floor.
    • 3rd floor: There is a tray in the copy room on the 3rd floor for materials that need to be shredded.
  • Have a lot of material that needs to be shredded?
    • There is a large shredding bin located in the Graduate Student Lounge on the 3rd floor. If you do not have access to this room, please contact any staff member and we will assist you.

Listservs

As of Summer 2021, all linguistics listservs have migrated to google groups. All listservs now end with -g, ex ling-dept-g@ucsd.edu (not a real listserv).
