Intensive Language Courses at UCSD
Summer Language Program 2008

and FRENCH
Each intensive course, equivalent to one quarter
of college-level language study, will meet Monday through Friday, from
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a period of two weeks (see below for dates).

These courses cover essential language skills, including
comprehension,
speaking, grammar and writing. Small-group interaction is a special
feature
of this program with an excellent tudent/teacher ratio. These intensive
courses (5A, 5B, 5C, 5D) are equivalent in content and in credit to
language
courses (1A/1AX,1B/1BX, 1C/1CX, 1D/DX) offered through the Linguistics
Language Program during the academic year. Students may enroll for 5,
10, or
15 units of credit. With appropriate prior preparation, students may
enter
the sequence at any time.

These Esperanto courses will meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m.
-12:20 p.m. for a period of three weeks.
Ling/Esperanto 5BS:
Fundamentals of Esperanto II, 5 units, HSS 2150.
A course to increase the proficiency level of students who have
completed LIEO 5AS
or who are at an equivalent level. Attention to
listening comprehension, conversation, reading, writing, and grammar
analysis.
Ling/Esperanto 5DS: Fundamentals of
Esperanto IV, 5 units, HSS
2305B.
A course to increase the proficiency level of students who have
completed LIEO 5CS
or who are at an equivalent level. Attention to
listening comprehension, conversation, reading, writing, and grammar
analysis.
Ling/Esperanto 12S: Esperanto for
Humanities and Social Sciences, 5
units, HSS 2333A.
Readings and discussion on topics in humanities and social sciences.
Conducted entirely in Esperanto.
